Pembina's Regional Climate Change Work
In addition to our work at the national level, the Pembina Institute works on climate change policy at the provincial and territorial levels — from our regional offices in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Arctic Canada.

Helping Communities and Companies Take Action
Pembina has programs to help companies and communities reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution.
For companies, these programs include advice on the development and implementation of strategies, advice on GHG offsets, scenario planning, Life Cycle Value Assessment and employee-based GHG reduction campaigns.
For communities, Pembina undertakes energy planning, sustainability planning, research on Smart Growth, and policy and program design.
Green Learning
Greenlearning.ca is an innovative online education program that integrates with provincial curricula. A highly successful pilot program in Alberta has enabled expansion to Ontario and B.C. Teachers, students and citizens alike can gain a wealth of information on climate change, clean energy solutions, energy efficiency and more from the Pembina Institute's Greenlearning.ca site.
Climate Change, Development and the CDM
The Pembina Institute is noted for its experience with the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). A key part of the protocol, the CDM encourages developed countries with GHG targets to invest in emission reduction projects in developing countries. Pembina’s work aims to ensure that the CDM delivers genuine reductions in GHG pollution, particularly by helping expand developing countries’ access to low-impact renewable energy.
Build and Learn Teaching Tools
Produced in 1999, this wildly successful on-line resource continues to be an essential hands-on teaching tool for helping the next generation of Canadians understand how renewable energy can help combat climate change. Well over 1.5 million construction and teaching plans have been downloaded from the site since it was launched.
